This is a shortened week and therefore we are going to complete a reflection activity. This discussion topic is to be reflective of the course material. Therefore, use your own words to respond to the following questions: 1) What other topics would you have liked to have covered in this course? 2)What reading did you find most interesting and why? 3)How has this course changed your perspective or outlook moving forward? 4)Any other topic of interest that you would like to add.

1) In this course, I would have liked to explore in greater depth the theories and frameworks surrounding organizational behavior. While we touched on various aspects such as motivation, group dynamics, and leadership, I believe there is so much more to explore in terms of understanding human behavior within organizations. Topics such as organizational culture, power and politics, and diversity and inclusion could have provided valuable insights into how individuals and groups function in different contexts.

2) Among the readings assigned in this course, I found the article titled “The Impact of Emotional Intelligence on Leadership Effectiveness” by Daniel Goleman and his colleagues particularly interesting. This reading explored the role of emotional intelligence in effective leadership and highlighted the importance of self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and social skills in guiding positive organizational outcomes. I found it intriguing to learn about how emotional intelligence can influence not only individual leadership effectiveness but also the overall success of an organization.

3) This course has changed my perspective and outlook on several fronts. Firstly, it has made me realize the significance of understanding and managing human behavior in organizations. Prior to taking this course, I had a more narrow focus on aspects such as strategy and structure, but now I have come to appreciate the critical role of people in shaping organizational outcomes. This change in perspective has made me more attentive to the interpersonal dynamics at play within teams and the impact of leadership styles on employee motivation and engagement.

Furthermore, this course has also made me more conscious of the importance of diversity and inclusion in organizations. I have learned about the potential benefits of embracing diversity, not only in terms of varying perspectives and creativity but also in terms of enhancing organizational adaptability and innovation. Moving forward, I am committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment that values and respects diverse voices and experiences.

4) In addition to the topics covered in this course, I would find it interesting to explore the concept of organizational change and its implications. Change is inevitable in today’s dynamic business environment, and understanding how organizations navigate and adapt to change can be crucial for their long-term success. Exploring topics such as change management strategies, resistance to change, and the role of leadership in managing change could provide valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities that organizations face in an ever-evolving landscape.
